Force measurement

Precisely measure deformation & sound in solid bodies

Force measurement on machines and in tools is used to protect them from overloads and prevent damage as far as possible. Piezoelectric sensors are used to detect deformations and process them for signal evaluation using suitable measuring amplifiers. The force is measured using various sensors and methods.

  • With direct force measurement
The sensor connects two components and takes over the entire force flow. The strength and rigidity requirements of the connection are also placed on the respective sensor. The measuring range of the sensor must be greater than the force to be measured.
  • With indirect force measurement (force shunt measurement)
The sensor is integrated into a component and only detects part of the force to be measured. This places lower demands on the respective sensor in terms of mechanical strength. However, in order to draw conclusions about the resulting forces, calibration in the installed state is necessary.
